Parents say too many car accidents caused by speeding drivers

After the tragic death of their son and father of their grandchild, two Colorado parents are urging drivers in their area to stop speeding. Too many lives are lost in car accidents that result from high-speed driving. This couple's 26-year-old son was killed in an accident in which speed is suspected to have played a part.

An accident report indicates that the fatal crash occurred at a busy intersection in Ellicott on Highway 94. Reportedly, the man was traveling to work on a Friday in early November when his pickup truck was struck by another vehicle that was driven by a 24-year-old Colorado Springs woman. State Troopers allege that she ran the stop sign at the intersection, while she was traveling at a speed of more than 70 mph in an area in which the speed limit is 35 mph.

It was reported that the impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to roll twice before coming to a halt. The young father died at the accident scene, and the other driver was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. Troopers says alcohol or drugs may have played a role in this crash, and charges are pending.

Losing loved ones in car accidents typically brings about many changes in the lives of the surviving family members. After the death of this young father, his son is deprived of the love and guidance of a caring father. Also, the loss of future income will put an extra burden on the shoulders of those who will have to care for the child. These family members may pursue financial relief by filing a wrongful death claim in a Colorado civil court, and, after establishing negligence, a monetary judgment may follow to cover all documented losses.
