Truck accident are, inherently, extremely frightening. We're talking about a massive motor vehicle that ways many tons barreling down upon much smaller vehicles. Truck accidents have a reputation of causing very serious, if not fatal, injuries to people involved in the wreck. They also have the reputation of being caused by truck drivers and truck companies that only care about making deliveries and their financial prospects instead of making sure that people are safe out on the road.
That's a bit of hyperbole, of course. But there are plenty of cases, unfortunately, that show that many truck drivers are negligent, and that many truck companies go out of their way to protect (or corroborate) drivers who don't follow rest laws or work too often in violation of the law.
More precisely, though, are the actual causes of truck accidents, and how these causes can be used by victims of the wrecks to prove liability. Returning to the truck drivers, they are susceptible to the many behaviors that are considered negligent or reckless by any state. Texting while driving, fatigued driving, drunk driving, speeding, swerving -- all of these things can be done by a truck driver, and it could trigger an accident.
The truck company can also be at fault. As we mentioned before, the truck company may manipulate their books or records to allow truck drivers to be out on the road more often than they should be. They may also be guilty of providing poor training to truck drivers, or even neglecting to maintain or fix some of their trucks.
