Colorado has developed strong laws to help combat the problems associated with drunk driving. Sadly, these laws are not able in all cases to prevent drivers from making the choice to get behind the wheel of vehicles after they have been drinking. Many serious and even fatal accidents occur due to the negligence of these drivers every year, leaving victims and their loved ones to mourn unnecessarily.
One man's family today is facing a future without their beloved relative. The young man, only 22 years of age, died in a drunk driving accident in Rockvale recently. In addition to the death, three other people were injured so severely that they had to be airlifted to the hospital. Even four days after the crash, the three injury victims remained hospitalized. Two of the victims were teenage girls and the other was an adult man.
The 20-year-old driver accused of causing the wreck has been arrested and charged with multiple criminal offenses. Specific charges include reckless driving and driving while under the influence as well as vehicular assault and vehicular homicide. It is not known if the defendant is in jail or has been allowed out of custody. The driver reportedly hit a parked vehicle that did not have any occupants in it. No details were given about where the four victims were at the time they were hit.
People who experience traumatizing wrecks may wish to speak with an attorney. Getting legal input may offer help in understanding the options for compensation.
