For many parents in Denver, sending kids off to school every day on a yellow school bus is almost a rite of passage. The iconic color and shape of these buses can take people back to their own childhood years. These buses are also utilized to transport students to various school-related activities. Regardless of the reason for the journey, the trust that parents place in the hands of bus drivers cannot be overstated.
Sadly, one bus driver in Colorado may well have created concern about these rides in the minds of many parents, students and school staff members after a deadly accident. The female driver was operating one of three buses picking up high school football players and coaches from the Denver airport when, instead of leaving the airport, she circled back to the terminal. After that, her bus mysteriously went off the road and slammed into a large concrete structure, killing her at the scene.
Some of the coaches were listed in serious condition in a local hospital and as many as 15 students were injured. There were 28 people on the bus in total. Investigators are unsure if the crash was an accident precipitated by a medical condition or a mechanical issue with the bus. They have also not yet ruled out an intentional crash. Witnesses reported that there was nothing unusual before the bus left the road or hit the pillar.
After a tragic accident like this, Denver residents may want to reach out to an attorney to learn how to navigate the process of seeking compensation for their injuries and losses.
